Jay Johnson, Vice Chair
A lifelong performer, musician, and deep believer in the transformative power of the arts, Jay joined the board of the Choir School of Newport County soon after he and his chorister daughter traveled with the School to Argentina in 2024. Jay has sung with the Aspen Opera Theater Festival, DiCapo Opera Theater (NYC), and Target Margin Theater (NYC), among others. He is a co-founder of the Ward Studio Theater Company, where he was nominated for a New York Independent Theater Award for his work. He has also worked in commercial and animated voiceovers, as well as many audiobooks, primarily focusing on children’s educational curricula. His production work includes concerts at Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center, as well as the International Festival of the Aegean, which brings U.S. choirs to Syros, Greece, for a month-long program of rehearsals, tours, and chamber performances, culminating in a final masterwork performance with a full orchestra.
